With its mission of becoming a leading Centre of Reference in the exploration of knowledge and the enhancement of expertise in the field of child law and policies, UiTM Faculty of Law, established the Child Law Centre (CLC) on the 1st of March, 2016.  The CLC is committed not only to the advancement of child law and policies, but also to empower society to develop awareness, knowledge and skills towards ensuring better legal protection as a safeguard for children. The CLC recognises that since children are instrumental to the future of our nation building, upholding the rights of the children under the law is crucial.  By acceding to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) in February 1995, Malaysia signalled a positive indication that it will commit to uphold and protect the legal rights of children under both the Civil and Shariah legal systems in Malaysia. Against the backdrop of the national legal framework and policies related to children, the establishment of the CLC is thus timely in order to advocate and promote child law and policies, in line with international law.
